Too Much

I love this photo taken on my wedding day. It’s joyful, spirited, and truly delightful. It’s a perfect representation of how I felt marrying my best friend, surrounded by my family and friends. It was on one of the best days of my life.

Even so, there’s some angst about sharing this picture. The struggle is that it feels like I’m bragging – that it makes me look too “full of myself” too self-centered, and just plain “too much”.

Here’s a reminder for all of the ladies today:  Don’t hide your light.  The world, while it doesn’t believe so, needs you to shine.  Be big.  Be bold.  Be brave.  Give yourself permission to feel all the feels, and abundantly so.  Rest when you’re tired.  Eat when you’re hungry.  Honor your body without judgment.  Rejoice when you are happy.  Want what you want without apologizing.  Have what you want without feeling guilty.  Be what you want without worry that others will judge you as “too much”.  Trust me when I tell you that in my experience, most men don’t have hang-ups about being “too much”.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of you beautiful women who are caring for everyone and everything in the business of life.  I see you and appreciate your tireless efforts in a society that doesn’t often recognize you.  Let’s be a beacon for each other today by sharing a photo or a comment with what lights you up.

Shine on, Friends,

Diane
